Access Ledger - Migrate HandiLedger data into Access Ledger

Steps to verify, export, and import HandiLedger data into Access Ledger using the migration tool.

You can migrate your HandiLedger data to Access Ledger in three stages: verify your HandiLedger accounts, export the data from HandiLedger, then import it into Access Ledger.

⚠️Important: The Integration Server feature must be enabled before you begin. You must also ensure the client is created and an entity added to the client, otherwise, the Integration Server will not synchronise the client list between HandiLedger and Access Ledger.

Verify HandiLedger accounts

Before exporting, verify your HandiLedger accounts to ensure the data is ready for migration.

  1. Log in to HandiLedger and select the entity.

  2. Select Tools, then select Verify Accounts.

  3. Ensure all checkboxes for accounts verification are ticked.

  4. Click Start to commence the verification process.

  5. Preview the messages listed in the Verify transactions window.

  6. Close the window.

The accounts verification process is now complete.

Export data from HandiLedger

To export the entity data from HandiLedger to disk:

  1. Highlight the entity in HandiLedger.

  2. Select Tools, then select Copy Selected Entity to Disk, then select Windows HandiLedger Data.

  3. Tick the years to be exported, then select Save to disk, then select Save.

  4. Select a folder to store the exported entities, then select Save.

  5. When the confirmation message appears, select OK.

The entity data is now saved to disk and ready to import into Access Ledger.

Import data into Access Ledger

To import the exported HandiLedger file into Access Ledger:

  1. Highlight the client in Access Ledger.

  2. Select Import Desktop HandiLedger File (.zip).

  3. Select Choose file.

  4. Select Prepare File for Import.

  5. Select Import HandiLedger File.

📌Note: If you receive an error creating the import journal, you may need to verify your accounts in HandiLedger from the Tools menu.

📌Note: You will need to select a Partner for any newly created entities.
